Orenda is an Iroquois Indian belief of a spiritual power inherent in people and their environment. Orenda is present, in varying degrees, in all animate and inanimate natural objects as a transmissible spiritual energy capable of being exerted according to the will of it’s possessor. Orenda is the spiritual force of nature and Orenda is the spiritual force by which human accomplishment is attained or accounted for. With Orenda one is empowered and able to affect the world around them in positive ways. Orenda is supernatural, divine, extraordinary and inherent- it’s the power within us (and all living things).
Years Of Experience
Our journey toward establishing Orenda Healing, LLC, began in 2012 when Mary and I crossed paths. From our very first meeting, we experienced an extraordinary connection, a deep understanding that we would collaborate harmoniously and that we had the potential to offer the world much more than what our conventional careers had allowed. This marked the beginning of a beautiful journey where we inspired and supported each other on our individual paths toward energy healing.
I focus on Reiki, specifically the Abadiania Healing Technique, while Mary has concentrated on Esoteric Healing. Mary achieved an impressive milestone by completing Level 7 in Esoteric Healing, and I progressed to become a Reiki Master, both as a Practitioner and a Teacher. As we honed our respective techniques, we initially practiced separately and collaborated with various organizations. However, it soon became apparent that our true calling was to work together, which ultimately led to the creation of Orenda Healing.
The name “Orenda” was suggested by Mary’s beloved sister, Nancy, many years ago, and it remarkably resonated with us, enduring through time. We are thrilled to welcome you to Orenda Healing, where we eagerly anticipate the opportunity to support you in achieving balance and well-being in harmony with your traditional or Western medical practices.

My personal journey began at the age of 16 when I received a diagnosis of a particularly aggressive form of Myasthenia Gravis. Over the course of several years, I found myself hospitalized for extended periods, but one specific moment stood out as the catalyst for everything that followed. I was preparing for critical surgery that offered me a glimmer of hope in overcoming this daunting and often frightening illness. In that hospital room, which felt unusually dark and silent for a medical facility, I spent hours in prayer, fervently repeating the heartfelt plea, “Give me life, and I will give you service.” Miraculously, the surgery was successful.
As I transitioned into adulthood, I made the decision to pursue a career in nursing, ultimately becoming a registered nurse in 1996. My first encounter with energy healing occurred in 2008 after I sustained an injury. The experience was extraordinary; it left me in awe and convinced I needed to learn this healing technique to support my friends and family. By 2012, I had completed all four levels of Reiki training and earned the title Reiki Master/Trainer. I established a practice where I offered Reiki sessions and taught all four levels until 2015.
In February 2015, I traveled to Brazil, specifically to Abadiania, which began my initiation into what I now call the Abadiania Healing Technique. Upon my return in January 2016, I underwent a profoundly transformative experience that solidified my understanding of how my Reiki training and practice served as the foundation for this new healing energy. While it shares similarities with Reiki, the Abadiania Healing Technique differs in that it can be delivered in levels and envelops the recipient in an energetic Merkabah. A Merkabah, which translates to light-spirit-body, is the energetic sphere in which all existence resides.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with this healing energy and sharing it with my family and friends, and I am now excited to expand my practice to anyone who feels that this technique could enhance their well-being.
I was born #6 of 7 daughters on 17 acres in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. My father got his own bathroom when I was 7yo. My early years were spent very happily picking clover for rabbits, giving lectures to very attentive sheep, and viewing the world from inside the doghouse or high up in the oak tree where I could see everything!
I worked very hard in school and was pleased to graduate at the top of my class in High School.Nature and Biology were always my loves and were areas of study in college. In my Junior year, my advisor recommended that I consider medical school. It was good advice. That’s where I met my husband, and I was able to graduate from MSU-COM in 1991. Next for me was an Internal Medicine Track Internship, followed by working two years in Family Practice, and then becoming a Resident in Psychiatry at the University of Louisville. I’d decided that if people were going to keep telling me things, I should learn how to properly help them.
By the year 2000, I was a Board Certified Psychiatrist and had three children with my husband, James. My Psychiatry practice was thriving, challenging, and fulfilling. There was also a growing sense that there was more – that there was a way to heal beyond the reach of medications. By the year 2010, I told myself I was not going to recertify in 2020 because I “would be doing something different.”
I took my first Reiki class in 2013 and over the next year became a Reiki Master. This was good – I was on the right track. I contacted Dr. Barbara Briner’s office for an appointment in 2014 and ended up in her Esoteric Healing Level 1 class instead. I didn’t even know that Esoteric Healing existed the week before. My calendar assured me, “You are in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing!”
When I told the owner of the Psychiatric practice where I worked what I was doing, he just said, “Cool!” That was very cool. I didn’t have to hide it which was wonderful. I’d finally found a way to use my hands, (that tended to scramble computers and occasionally disable gas pumps), for Good! I just had to learn how. I continued in Esoteric Healing classes and became a Certified Practitioner in 2017.
A patient once said to me, “Sometimes I think it’s the woo-woo that’s the most real…” Yes! Yes, it is! Esoteric Healing has changed my life as well as my professional life – forever. I am thrilled to finally be able to switch gears and devote my time and energy to it. All of my experience up until this point has positioned me beautifully to do just that. I am looking forward to the next 30 years and happy to share what I have learned. It makes me smile to imagine the myriad of ways we will find each other, and people will find themselves in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing. ***

What is Reiki?
Reiki therapy is based on an Eastern belief that vital energy flows through your body. Distant Reiki healing is a way to help guide this energy in a way that promotes balance and healing.
A Japanese man named Mikao Usui developed reiki in the 1920s. The term comes from two Japanese words: “Rei,” which means universal, and “ki,” which loosely translates to a lifeforce of energy.
It is a complementary treatment, which means you use it along with proven traditional medical treatments. It does not cure or get rid of any health conditions by itself.
What is Abadiania Healing Technique?
While traveling to Abadiania in January 2016, my second visit, I had a profound experience. This was when I knew my Reiki training and practice were the foundation for this new healing energy. It’s like Reiki but different in that it can be given in levels and the technique results in the person being inside an energetic Merkaba. A Merkaba (meaning light-spirit-body) is the energy sphere in which everything exists. I have enjoyed working with this energy with family and friends and am now ready to open this practice up to anyone who feels it would be of benefit to their wellbeing.
What is Esoteric Healing?
Esoteric Healing balances your energy and promotes your body’s natural healing abilities.
It helps the energy flow into your chakras. When the chakras are balanced, they influence the nervous system, endocrine system, the blood, glands, and organs. All of this happens without the practitioner touching your body but working instead in the energy field that permeates and surrounds you.
How long will the session last?
Distant energy healing is usually about 50-60 minutes. We will schedule a time and date for your distance energy healing session. By setting up a specific time, you can be in a receptive state (such as lying down or sitting in a quiet space without distraction).
One wonderful aspect of distant energy healing is you can be anywhere to receive it and you never have to leave your home. Having a session in the comfort of your own home can often be more relaxing than spending time driving to and from a treatment space.
How often should I have an energy healing session?
That is entirely up to you.
